I stopped in Tucumcari and took pictures of the murals along Route 66 … some pretty cool stuff. The people in the murals are people the artists know and that live in town.

The very first “wonder-er”, Suzanne, had quite a lot to do with the genesis of RoadsideWonders … and she recently shared a great series of murals in Tucumcari, New Mexico with me! I’ll be posting them over the next few weeks. Be prepared for a regular Route 66 Mural-Palooza here at RW :)

Most of Tucumcari’s murals were created by husband and wife team Sharon and Doug Quarles. The first mural is The Dodge & Cowboy mural, on Main & Adams street, that features a Route 66 sign, a man on horseback, and a women standing next to a Dodge.
