I decided to take the “long way” home during my frustrated attempt to locate the Madonna of the Trail that was supposedly moved to Rockville, Maryland from Bethesda. No luck on that front . . . but I did stumble on to the one and only ferry still in operation across the Potomac River.
I didn’t get to take a picture of my scoot on the ferry because I wasn’t allowed to get off my bike and I couldn’t reach my camera from the saddle.
There’s a cool little snackbar/general store on the Maryland side, so I pulled over for a soda and took a photo of a run coming to shore before I left. The road leading away from the Maryland side is an excellent putt through trees and alongside horse farms — peaceful & beautiful!
