I took these photos last year while visiting the town I grew up in and hadn’t been back to in 20 years.
The elephant was called Nancy, and was the favorite animal of circus owner, William Duggan. Nancy, still a baby, followed him to the hospital the day he died. His brother commissioned the life size 6 foot tall headstone in honor of William Duggan and Nancy.
