This is the big Martin’s Potato Chip kettle located at the factory entrance in Thomasville (just west of York, Pennsylvania). It’s a roadside wonder that’s easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention!

Martin’s is the purveyor of kettle-cook’d (yes, that’s cook’d – not cooked) potato chips. Ah, the loopiness of trademarks, and branding, and general marketing silliness :)   I believe their chips (and other snacks) are only available in stores in the south central PA region; but they do have an online store.

I’m a confessed potato chip-oholic and I give the B-B-Q Waffle Chips a big thumbs-up!

Martin’s offers factory tours – but only on Tuesdays and you must call ahead to schedule. I haven’t taken to the tour. so if you have … please feel free to comment below and give me your verdict!

- Visit Martin’s Online

- Tour details at the York Factory Tour site

"Bruiser", my cruiser, poses in front of the kettle.
