Electric City Signwendyvee says:
This weekend, I had the great pleasure of meeting a group of people who share my love of roadside adventure! We gathered at the classic Glider Diner in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Lunch was great – and I was so pleased that Mod Betty (of RetroRoadmap) & Glenn Wells (of RoadsideFans) brought us all together.
After lunch, I went exploring and found tons of great stuff … in fact, I spent so much time finding “wonders” that I ended-up roaming up and down the mountain on RT 309 — in pitch black darkness (but I’ll save that story for another post)!
One of my favorite Scranton landmarks is the “Electric City” sign high atop the copper-roofed Board of Trade/Scranton Electric building. As you can tell by the long shot, I was already fighting late afternoon shadows.
I simply adore this great sign.
For more information about “Electric City”; please see the Links of Interest at the end of this post. Stay tuned for more Scranton area “wonders” that I’ll be posting over the next week or so

Great shots, I like how you have the close-up, medium distance and longer distance. It shows the building and sign off!
Thanks, Larry
Wendyvee! So swell to meet you in person- and bummer for all of us that it gets so dark so early this time of year, not easy to look for roadside finds in the inky blackness.
I have a picture of the Electric City sign from one of the room windows in the Lackawanna Train Station/Radisson, what a great sign, huh?
Thanks so much for coming out to the meetup – hope to see you out on the road again soon!!
Good times … hope we can all do it again soon!
You were right. Olde Good Things was spectacular!
