Vintage Neon – Molly Pitcher Waffle Shop

Molly Pitcher Waffle Shop Sign
Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

I have always loved this sign, just off the square in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. I captured this shot while attending the Chambersburg Ice Fest last weekend. I really love the “pinkish” glow 🙂

After a lap around the festival, we ducked inside the Molly Pitcher to escape the bitter cold. I wanted to grab lunch (Slicks had already visited the chili cook-off, so he just wanted coffee), but the unfriendly greeting that we received — coupled with the anticipated long wait for a $12 cheeseburger — put a quick end to that notion.

Perhaps the staff was frazzled by the extra traffic generated by the festival? I suppose I’ll give them another chance the next time that I’m in Chambersburg.

That is a cool sign and a cool lamp post. But, something about chicken and waffles together–blurp–and that’s not just because I’m a vegetarian:) There are a couple places here who serve that combo and it’s always sounded yucky to me.

I’ve never been a fan of chicken & waffles either … even though it’s a Pennsylvania Dutch staple.

Both of my Grandmothers made it. There are different styles, but the most common around here is a chicken gravy concoction with chopped chicken. Some people just throw chicken on top of waffles. Neither is very appealing to me 🙁

Molly Pitcher Waffle Shop Neon is still on Marquis, but the restaurant is now called Molly’s. Yes, they still serve Chic & Waffles, but also a very good menu. With many options for vegitarians. For example, the Alexander the Greek scrambler (Spinach, Tomatoe & Feta), one of my favorites.
