Not only does the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing feature cars, motorcycles, and even a racing snowmobile, they also have a wonderful collection of driver and racetrack ephemera. Most of the items in the display cases were hard to photograph (go and visit this museum to see them … you won’t regret it); but here is a small sampling of some of the posters and ads featured throughout the building. Some great graphics!
Hey Gang! I wonder how many little kids persuaded Mom to buy some Hollinger’s Franks so that they could get tickets?
This old handpainted roadside sign was BY FAR my favorite thing at the museum. Someday, when I have my warehouse apartment, I want this on one of my walls 🙂
The stairs leading to the second floor …
Look what’s coming up this weekend!
No racing museum would be complete without a nod to “Miss Hurst Golden Shifter”, Linda Vaughn. Click here to see an excellent post about her at one of my favorite blogs, The Selvedge Yard.
The EMMR is open Saturdays and Sundays from April through October. The museum and gift shop hours are 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Admission is Free; but I believe that you’ll enjoy it so much that you won’t mind adding a few bucks to the donation box in the lobby. Click here to check out the museum’s website for more details and to see their schedule of special events.
