Rooster Barn

Rooster Barn
Bridge Valley Road
Columbia, Pennsylvania

If you’re out scouting for “wonders”, it’s fortuitous when you can find two of them that are in very close proximity!

I originally set my course to find an amazing rooster mural. I’d happened upon it on Pinterest at some point and I didn’t do a lot of research other than noting which road it was on. To my surprise, Forry’s Mill Covered Bridge leads to it if you’re arriving from the southerly approach. If you are in to covered bridges, the Seigrist’s Mill Covered Bridge is about a mile or so up Chiques Creek from this one. I didn’t stop at the Seigrest’s Bridge because there was fresh tar on the road nearest it and I hate riding through tar.

On to the star of the show … this very cool rooster mural. It was a little weathered compared to the photos that inspired me to find it; but I think it adds a little rustic charm.

A waitress at the diner in Columbia, told me that the little girls on the side of the barn represent the owner’s grandchildren. There was no one around that day to confirm. It sounds plausible though.

    1. This entire road is so simple and pretty.

Yep, the trees are all getting that “tired” look. I’m not sure if they’ll hold on long enough to get good color this year.
